Zehntner ZG8000 is the only glossmeter in the market that offers such a wide range of features and measuring modes in a lightweight, ultraportable probe. The small measurement footprint together with the thin side-profile of the probe make even the tightest spots and the smallest curved surfaces easily accessible.
With four different measurement modes, all applications can be tackled—from the smallest curved parts requiring spot checks, to the largest surfaces requiring hundreds of measurement points. On the probe itself, this rich feature set and settings can be accessed with only two buttons that control the intuitive menus with a clear structure.
The Zehntner ZG8000 probe has been designed from the ground up to bring comfort to gloss testing processes, no matter the surface being tested or the environment it is tested in.
The brushed-aluminum casing features an ergonomically-placed measurement button so that you can use the probe confidently and without any unsteadiness, on all kinds of surfaces and in different orientations. The crystal-clear OLED screen with wide viewing angles delivers visibility under all conditions and also features a sharp resolution and contrast for readability of results. The probe is powered by an off-the-shelf, flight-safe AAA battery that can be recharged rapidly over USB. For measuring sensitive surfaces or curved parts with stability and without risk of surface damage, different rubber attachments are also available. The built-in targeting laser can be used together with the side-view of the measuring spot to make positioning accurate.
At the heart of Zehntner ZG8000 is a high-quality optical assembly, built upon 50+ years of Swiss Made expertise in optical instrumentation, combined with a long history of successful glossmeters from the Zehntner brand.
Despite its pocket size, the Zehntner ZG8000 probe features a standards-compliant two-angle geometry for measuring high-gloss and mid-gloss surfaces at 20° and 60° of light incidence with high accuracy and repeatability. This also makes it possible to measure unwanted haze, i.e. the degree of reflection from inside a highly-reflective coating.
Traditional glossmeters have long suffered from measurement inaccuracies that are caused by stray light from natural or artificial light sources – such as from the sun or the subtle strobe effect of overhead halogen lights. However, the Zehntner ZG8000 features Stray Light Compensation – intelligent algorithms monitor the environment for stray light and utilize this information to exclude deviations, so that you can measure with high accuracy and peace of mind – anywhere, anytime.
The Zehntner Gloss app for Apple iOS connects to the Zehntner ZG8000 probe—together, the app and the probe turn into a cloud-connected gloss testing lab in your pocket. The app expands Zehntner ZG8000’s usefulness with data evaluation, synchronization, verification and reporting.
It also helps to reduce unnecessary process waste in quality assurance operations. For example, the app automatically calculates measurement statistics and displays the series with bar graphs, thus reducing manual transcription errors. The synchronization and sharing of your measurements through the Proceq Live cloud platform also eliminates the use of easy-to-lose USB drives (or paper scraps) with measurements. A simple digital workflow makes standards-compliant reporting a breeze, with just a couple of taps.
